Get off his back. We want him still Burnley manager NEXT season.

Yesterday Apple held their annual product event in California.

As expected they updated the iPad and MacMini and introduced a 27” retina display iMac, none of which interest me.

I was waiting - in vain as it turned out - for news on the rumoured 12.9” iPad. Everything suggests that there will be one, it’s just a matter of when.

So I need to keep saving.

Burnley are one of the least expensive teams to watch in the Premier League.  They sell the cheapest cup of tea and without question sell the best pies - and at the joint lowest price.
A glance at the details for any of the teams proves one thing. Football isn’t a working class pastime - and hasn’t been for a very long time.

The Miners Strike 1984-85. Thatcher’s legacy.
Was it really 30 years ago?  I should know. I was there and I still have the scars to prove it.

Aren’t grandchildren brilliant?

Something else I’ve been trying to track down for a very long time.
A General Tools folding chisel & plane blade sharpening jig.  Found a seller prepared to post it to France.  Most won’t, at least not without making astronomical charges.
This jig is a foolproof way of getting a consistent edge on a blade.

This is a strange one.
Ashley Giles appointed Lancashire coach, with Glen Chapple no longer captain.
I reserve judgement on this one but not convinced.

Hurray!  It seems that Pluto is a planet after all!

Hurray!  It seems that Pluto is a planet after all!

My collection of screwdrivers is appalling. A motley collection I’ve been given, found or acquired over the years. None of them match, there are sizes missing and I can never find the one I want for the job I’m doing.
Thought it was time I did something about it.  I’ve wanted a set of these for quite some time but they were always too expensive for my meagre budget, with the shipping costs usually being more than the item price.  So I’ve had to wait.
Then this morning I found these.  Used, as you can see, but nicely preserved and well looked after.
They were originally made by Irwin’s but no longer are, although they are still available in America, notably from Garrett Wade. Described as being ‘the most rugged wood-grip screwdrivers in the world’ they are ‘extra heavy duty’ and were standard equipment in all US army tanks until 20 years ago and were included in US Jeep tool kits during the 2nd world war.
Sizes: 6”, 8”, 10” and 12”.
I’m over the moon.  All I need now is a decent set of Phillips!
